American Road - Jerusalem
ViaBridges was called in to design a bridge on Jerusalem’s American Road, a central traffic artery connecting the capital’s east and southeast. Built to accommodate a 96 meters main span, the bridge was planned to stretch above a scenic valley of Darga River, at the height of 30 meters, emphasizing the landscape and conserve its beauty.
This special project called for a cast on-site balanced cantilever bridge, with differentiating box heights, diagonal webs, and high cantilevers.
The bridge crosses above Darga river, a ravine cut by a seasonal stream that runs through the Judean desert to the Dead Sea. Moreover, it is located in an area with a highly diversified population. This bridge symbolizes a pathway connecting between people and cultures backgrounds, nature and technology, past and future.
